MUNISING -- A man convicted of killing his wife by pushing her off a cliff in the Upper Peninsula has lost his case at the appeals court.

The court affirmed Thomas Richardson's conviction and life sentence Wednesday, about 4 1/2 years after Juanita Richardson plunged to her death at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

The appeals court turned aside Richardson's challenges to evidence as well as other issues that arose at the 2008 trial.

The 48-year-old Richardson is from McBain. He claims his wife fell while he was returning from a bathroom. He says he saw it happen and then passed out.
