CADILAC, MI -- During an open City Council meeting Monday night, officials voted 3-2 in favor of selling Wexford County’s landfill to American Waste.
Two-thirds of the county’s municipalities have to vote in favor of the sale for the transaction to be possible. However, the county only has about 8 votes at this time.
The mayor of Cadillac tells 7&4 news that the remaining municipalities and villages are taking their time on the issue and may vote against the sale.
If the sale goes through, the landfill may be opened up to 22 other Counties in northern Michigan.
