PETOSKEY, MI -- You’ll soon see some younger faces pulling the slots and placing bets in Petoskey.

Odawa Casino has lowered the age limit to gamble from 21 to 19.

The Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians Tribal Council passed the bill and it was signed into law by Tribal Chairman Ken Harrington.

The idea is to allow younger people who are out of high school to gamble close to home, instead of taking their money to other communities.

"It keeps the door open for them, it does, it gives them the option to gamble, I think part of the reasoning was to make more revenue, but the other thing that was brought to my attention is it keeps them in the community, and Odawa is a big draw for the community," said Harrington.

19 year olds should be allowed in the casino by the end of the year.
