ACME, MI -- As of 2 p.m. Saturday, absentee ballot requests are no longer available for Michigan voters.
Requests had to be submitted to a township or city clerk by the afternoon deadline.
In Acme Township, like most every township across the state, special hours were held to accommodate ballot requests.
After receiving an absentee voter ballot, voters have until 8 p.m. on Election Day to complete the ballot and return it to the clerk's office.
The ballot will not be counted unless the voter’s signature is on the return envelope and matches the signature on file.
Local clerks say the option to submit as an absentee works well for a lot of people who can't make it out to the polls the day of the general election.
The General Election will be held Tuesday, November 2.
