LEELANAU COUNTY -- Consumers Energy crews are busy working to restore power to several thousand customers across Northern Michigan today.

Consumers Energy Area Manager Bob Gluszewski says yesterday he alerted his crew of one-hundred employees that today's storm would mean one busy day. They were ready to travel wherever the storm hit the hardest and keep safety as their top priority.

Gluszewski says, "Our crews, the first thing their going to do is when they get out there is to make the area safe if there's a wire down they will make sure the power is off to that wire... then after everything is safe for them as well as their customers then they will fix whatever it is."

Also he says that if you see any down wires, keep a safe distance and notify your local law enforcement agency.  This helps Consumers Energy pinpoint the potentially dangerous outages.

Consumers Energy will be on call throughout the night to fix any potential power outages.
