Traverse City Light & Power is officially the leader of renewable wind energy in the state of Michigan.

TCLP now has seven percent of it's total generation coming from wind.

This is just three percentage points away from their goal and the state's mandated standard of ten percent.

They say they are on their way to meeting that standard very soon.

Executive Director of TCLP says, "Traverse City Light & Power has always been very conscious of trying to get as much of a what we call an environmentally sensitive generation portfolio together, even though we are prompted by the state, this just worked out just exactly the way we hoped it would."

TCLP reached this percentage by purchasing all electric generations as well as the renewable energy created from five new turbines.
