TRAVERSE CITY -- Traverse City's non-discrimination ordinance is now in effect.

Traverse City Manager R. Ben Bifoss reports that no referendum petitions were received in time to suspend the ordinance.  This means the non-discrimination ordinance discussed at the City Commission for several weeks is moving forward.

Mayor Chris Bzdok says petitions can still be submitted to overturn the ordinance but a vote would be unlikely until November of 2011.
