TRAVERSE CITY -- After three years of waiting, a teacher Karen Nelson is getting a special lesson from a traveling science truck.

The mobile discovery center made a visit to Eastern Elementary School early Friday afternoon.

Fourth and fifth graders were able to get a hands on science experience.

The National Science Center's Mobile Discovery Center is a tractor trailer that travels across the country educating kids about science.

Fifth grade teacher at Eastern Elementary School Karen Nelson was thrilled with the traveling science truck and says, "This was a way for the students to see some other real world science connections and learn something from someone besides myself and also encourage them to continue loving science and being passionate about science."

The teacher who applied for the Mobile Discovery Center submitted the application roughly three years ago.
