Several law enforcement agencies are asking business owners in Schoolcraft and Mackinac Counties to take extra precautions to protect their property.

The call for extra measures comes after a significant number of commercial break-ins have taken place along the U.S. 2 highway corridor stretching from Manistique to Brevort.

Police are strongly encouraging business owners to take extra steps to secure property and protect themselves from potential break-ins.

Investigators are also asking for help from residents in the area if they've noticed anything unusual in the area.  Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at Manistique Public Safety Department at 906-341-2134 or the Michigan State Police, Manistique Post at 906-341-6218.

Other agencies involved in the investigation include Schoolcraft County Sheriff's Office, Mackinac County Sheriff's Office, Sault Tribe Police Department and the Michigan State Police, St. Ignace Post.
