TRAVERSE CITY -- Grand Traverse County commissioners make the final cuts to save hundreds of thousands of dollars.  The budget now moves onto the final step with approval.

At meeting Wednesday morning, Commissioners decided to cut 9 jobs.  5 of the jobs are currently open positions so only 4 employees will be facing a cuts, or in some cases cutting back on hours.

The 9 jobs include:
An Assistant Prosecuting Attorney
2 Maintenance jobs
A Probation Officer
2 1/2 Office Specialists in Central Records
A part time Account Technician in Finance
Several other employees will have hours reduced

Commissioners put back in 5 of the 6 custodians who were originally cut and decided not to contract out the services.  A Grand Traverse County Deputy was also put back in the budget.

The job cuts save the county $610,000.
