TRAVERSE CITY -- All day Tuesday people were filling up their plates in hopes of filling up the building funds of the new Traverse City Senior Center construction project.

The owners of the Cottage Cafe, the Drossart family are at it again and giving back to the community with their 6th annual chicken meal fundraiser.

Their goal is to raise awareness and money for the construction of the new center that has been in the works since 1997.

Donations made today will go toward making this dream a reality.

Building the center will cost 4 million dollars and for the last six years the community has put it's efforts toward raising this money.

Traverse City Senior Center Director Lori Wells is proud of her community and says, "The brossard family of the cottage cafe has been wonderful in helping us create awareness about the senior center and the building fund, letting people know that were out there that were in need and frankly, it's from these chicken dinners that we have gathered the volunteers and the community support that we already have for this project."

Wells also says that $150,000 dollars is the current amount in the building fund.
