TRAVERSE CITY -- The Father Fred Foundation is thanking the community for making its fall food drive a big success.

The Father Fred Foundation wants to thank everyone who donated to this year's Fall Food Drive hosted by Oleson's, Glen's, Tom's and Maxbauer's (Spartan Brand) food stores throughout the Grand Traverse area.

More than 540 boxes of food were collected between October 3 and 9.

"We especially want to thank the 240 volunteers who helped with the drive, saying thank you, passing out flyers and packing banana boxes ready for pick up," said Martie Manty, Executive Director. "Area businesses and churches who generated volunteers were critical to our success. This food will help the Father Fred food pantry serve over 4,000 families and 8,000 children this year."
