(AP) -- The Defense Department says the remains of a Michigan soldier are among those of three soldiers missing in action in the Vietnam War that have been identified.

Army Staff Sgt. Melvin C. Dye, of Carleton, Mich., was one of those aboard a UH-1H Iroquois helicopter when it was shot down by enemy fire in Laos on Feb. 19, 1968.

Military officials said Friday the remains of Army Staff Sgt. Robert S. Griffith, of Hapeville, Ga. Griffith will be buried on Oct. 23 in Fairburn, Ga.

Dye's remains and those of Sgt. 1st Class Douglas J. Glover, of Cortland, N.Y., will be returned to their families for burial at a later date.

Officials say the remains of 938 Americans killed in the Vietnam War have been accounted-for and returned to their families since 1973, with 1,708 still missing.
