Police crack down on cyberbullying, sexting

TRAVERSE CITY -- Are police, state troopers, and sheriff’s deputies prepared to handle the high tech crimes that our children face today?

Dozens of officers from around the state are in Traverse City this week hoping to learn from each other and experts as part of the Crime Prevention Association of Michigan’s fall conference. Through seminars and sharing their own experiences, authorities will tackle some of the most dangerous and most common threats to children.

Cyber bullying, abductions, sexting, and school violence top the conference’s agenda. Those on the front lines of these relatively new threats say it is important to have a good relationship with other police departments so that everyone is on the same track when it comes to keeping kids safe.
