ANN ARBOR (AP) -- A judge is set to hold a hearing on whether the openly gay student assembly president at the University of Michigan should be granted a personal protection order against an assistant state attorney general.

Chris Armstrong filed for the PPO last month, citing frequent harassment by Andrew Shirvell over a five-month period. A hearing is scheduled for Monday afternoon before Judge Nancy Francis at the Washtenaw County Trial Court in Ann Arbor.

The 21-year-old Michigan Student Assembly president says the 30-year-old lawyer heckled him during a speech, showed up at a late-night party at his off-campus house and called the Washington office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, where Armstrong held an internship.

Shirvell went on personal leave last week.
