CEDARVILLE -- A search and rescue operation is underway in Mackinac County on Thursday.
The undersheriff tells 7&4 News that a 15-foot Boston whaler boat was found empty floating near the Les Cheneaux Islands around 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The islands are near Cedarville in the Upper Peninsula. The undersheriff says they're assuming that someone was onboard and is now missing. The U.S. Coast Guard has been searching for that missing person with a helicopter and boats, but so far no word that anyone has been found. The sheriff's office says they are still searching along the shoreline.
