Students with the Traverse City Area Public Schools will hear a Presidential message next week.
TCAPS will broadcast President Obama's Back-to-School Address Tuesday at noon.
Parents are welcome to view the broadcast with their children at school, just call in advance to make arrangements. This is the second annual Back-to-School speech to U.S. students which will be streamed live over the Internet as well.
The White House reports that the speech is an opportunity for President Obama to speak directly to students across the country. In last year's address, the President encouraged students to study hard, stay in school, and take responsibility for their education.
Parents or guardians who do not want their children to view the broadcast can download a Waiver of Participation Form at www.tcaps.net. All waivers should be returned to their school office or emailed to the school principal by Monday, September 13th. Students opting out of the President's speech will be provided with an alternative activity.
Visit the White House Web site for updates on the President's speech including broadcast plans.
Last year, a description of the President's remarks was released in advance of the event and the speech was 19 minutes in length.
