Tony Award winning musical in Traverse City
TRAVERSE CITY -- A Tony Award winning musical opens Friday night at the Old Town Playhouse.
The Putnam County Spelling Bee was nominated for six Tony Awards and won two.
Director Brett Nichols says, "The musical is an exciting opening to the 51st Old Town Playhouse season. As a newer musical, we're excited to bring a taste of Broadway to the Traverse City theatre scene."
The musical follows the comically dark, middle school adventures of six hyper-smart spelling bee contestants and four audience members who are invited on stage to participate as they compete for a chance to move on to the national spelling bee."
Five special guests will also participate each night - you just may catch 7&4 news personalities in the musical one of these nights! You won't want to miss that!
Play starts at 8:00 p.m. Friday Sept. 10th.
