KALKASKA -- You can help raise money for an area school district while getting behind the wheel of a car for a test drive.
For the first time, Bill Marsh Chrysler is bringing the Chrysler Drive For The Kids Event to this year’s Back To School Blazer Bash.
The event will take place on Thursday, September 2 from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m.
The Chrysler Corporation will pay the school district $10 for every test drive.
The money will not only help pay for the Blazer Bash, but anything over $1,000 will go to support Elementary PTO programs.
“We want to get at least 150 test-drives in a three-hour period,” says organizer Deb Ball-Odeh. Ball-Odeh says they hope to line up teachers and parents to have a continuous stream of test drives. The Drive For The Kids will be located at the Kalkaska Middle School south lawn on Dresden Street.
Bill Marsh Chrysler in Kalkaska will bring a variety of Chryslers, including the Chrysler Town and Country minivan, for the test drives. “We know people will be very impressed with the new Chrysler products,” says Bill Marsh Jr. “But this is mostly an easy opportunity to help raise money to support the schools.”
Marsh had approached the school district with the fundraising opportunity when he heard that they were looking for a way to help fund the Back To School Blazer Bash. The Bash will include a picnic dinner, games, karaoke and other activities. Ball-Odeh says the event is an upbeat way to have a last hurrah before school starts.
