BIG RAPIDS (AP) -- Ferris State University faculty members are planning to teach while negotiations on a new contract continue.
The Ferris Faculty Association made the decision to show up for classes Monday despite failing to reach a deal with the Big Rapids school during talks on Sunday.
Ferris State spokesman Marc Sheehan tells the Detroit Free Press the faculty didn't accept the last contract offer. But a union representative says the bargaining team never presented it to the faculty for a vote.
The contract expired in June, but the sides have been bargaining for more than a year.
Ferris Faculty Association president Jim Rumpf says sticking points include the length of the contract, wages and health care costs.
He says the next negotiation is scheduled for Wednesday.
