Busy stretch of road shut down after crash in Cheboygan

CHEBOYGAN -- A busy stretch of road is shut down for hours in Cheboygan County after a crash involving a motorcycle and a car.

It happened on M-33 and M-27 just south of Cheboygan around 11:45 a.m.. 

Investigators say a 22 year old woman from Cheboygan was southbound on M-27 in the left turn lane when she attempted to make a left turn on to M-33. A motorcycle driven by a 56 year old man from Traverse City was northbound on M-27. The motorcycle collided with vehicle in the intersection.

Motorcyclist was taken to Cheboygan Memorial Hospital then air lifted to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, in critical condition. The driver of the automobile sought her own treatment.

7 & 4 News is told M-33 reopened around 3:00.
