Passenger: 2 on plane detained in alleged threat

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A passenger on an American Airlines flight that was grounded because of a phone threat says two people on the plane were taken away in handcuffs.

The FBI has confirmed Thursday that at least 2 people were being questioned in the incident.

Passenger Michael Kidd told The Associated Press he saw uniformed police officers handcuffing a young man and a young woman sitting in the back row. They were taken off the plane.

The Transportation Security Administration says officials stopped American Airlines Flight 24, bound for New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, before its scheduled takeoff at 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

Officials say all passengers and crew are safe.
