LANSING (AP) -- Michigan education officials are set to reveal a list of the lowest-performing 5 percent of schools in the state.

Schools on the list Monday will have about 90 days to submit a turnaround plan to state officials.

Those that are rejected could wind up under state control in a statewide school reform district. Michigan's academic reform office could end up in charge of several individual schools or several schools within a district, depending on whether improvement plans are accepted or rejected.

The school takeover plan is one of several changes signed into state law earlier this year.
