Airport safety conference
TRAVERSE CITY -- Ice and snow may be the last thing on your mind right now, but that was the bit topic for airport officials across the midwest today.
They met in Traverse City to learn the latest runway safety technology.One of the reasons officials from Detroit and other much larger airports attended the conference in Northern Michigan is because Cherry Capitol Airport is a leader in airport operations. They've been recognized by the FAA and the Airline Pilot's Association for safe weather practices.

Officials also talked about how to keep runways safer including new technology that actually measures runway friction.
