TRAVERSE CITY -- Police are on high alert in Traverse City after a third business is broken into.
Police say Sunday night someone broke in through a window at McLain Cycle on East Eight Street.
Officials say at some point something scared them off, because there were several items gathered inside the building but nothing was taken.
Two bikes were found in the area but police are not sure if they belong to the people involved.
The investigation continues into two other recent business break-ins in Traverse City.
Last week, the Marathon gas station on South Garfield Avenue was hit by a burglar early Thursday morning. The person forced open a window and got away with an unknown amount of money.
Slab Town Burgers on West Front was also hit by thieves that same night. The owner of the restaurant says nothing was stolen but the crime is a reminder of what happened at the end of July last year. That's when a break-in nearly shut down the business, because so much money was stolen.
Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to contact the Traverse City Police Department's Detective Bureau or the Silent Observer tip line, 231-947-TIPS.
