CHIPPEWA CO. -- The Chippewa County Health Department is issuing two beach closures after elevated levels of bacteria are detected.

Health officials issued a no body contact advisory for Sherman Park Beach in Sault Ste. Marie and Brimley State Park in Brimley.

High levels of bacteria, specifically E. coli were found at the beaches.  People should avoid body contact with surface waters.

The advisory will remain in effect until test results come back clear.  For more information click on THIS LINK.
