CHEBOYGAN -- The U.S. Coast Guard is on scene of an oil spill in Cheboygan County.

Officials say two tugboats were tied together in Duncan Bay in Cheboygan.  Saturday evening, one of the tugboats started taking on water and sinking into the harbor.

Coast Guard Pollution Investigators responded to a sunken tug Sunday morning.

Pollution responders have boomed off the vessel, capped the vessel's fuel vents to prevent further oil from leaking from the tug, and remain on scene to further mitigate the threat of pollution.

The Coast Guard is working with spill contractors to further examine the tug and remove any remaining oil. The cause of the sinking is under investigation by the Coast Guard. The owner of tug boat JENNY LYNN has been contacted.
