ACME -- A Northern Michigan couple's dream home is destroyed from an early morning fire.
It happened just after 2:00 a.m. Wednesday. The home is located near the Grand Traverse Resort in Acme. The home actually sits on the 12th hole of The Wolverine golf course.
The couple awoke to a loud explosion that could be heard throughout the neighborhood. They saw smoke, called 911 and got out safely.
When the Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department arrived, flames were shooting through the roof.
A firefighter was injured while fighting the fire. He has been treated and released.
Authorities are still investigating but believe the home could have been struck by lightning during last night's storm.
