Jamie Kramer Wins the ABC 29 & 8 Ambassador Competition
TRAVERSE CITY -- After dozens of people auditioned in round one, a panel of judges selected 10 semi-finalists. Then you, the viewers, voted on our website. There were 5 finalists from all over Northern Michigan that were tested on personality, communication skills and public speaking ability.
"Our viewers chose the final ten, so we kind of had an idea of who viewers would like to see," said President of ABC 29 & 8 Jill Saarela.
There can only be one winner, and they will receive a one-year contract with ABC 29 & 8.
The contestants were judged on four events. There was a mock interview, a product pitch, a promotional script read and a current events quiz.
After adding up the scores, the judges said it was close. Jamie Kramer is now the new face of ABC 29 & 8.
Kramer is from Mesick and went to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York. She has been acting for eight years.
"How do you describe this feeling? I don't know, I feel like I could just blow up into a million pieces," said Kramer.
Kramer said she is excited about everything the ABC Ambassador position will offer.
"The interviewing people, being out there in the community... really getting in there with the events and things that are going on... All of it," said Kramer.
Jamie Kramer will represent ABC 29 & 8 in community events, on-air promotions and also appear in future newscasts.
