FLAGSTAFF (AP) -- There's progress in Arizona against a 14,000 acre wildfire near Flagstaff, where about 1,000 evacuated residents my be allowed to return home Wednesday.

Massive clouds of smoke continue to choke the city but authorities say that the so-called Schultz fire is 20 percent contained.

Coconino County Sheriff's officials say a decision will be made sometime Wednesday morning about allowing evacuees to return home.

Strong winds had quickly fanned the fire that broke out Sunday. Authorities say it was started by an abandoned campfire. No major injuries have been reported and no structures have burned.

Campfires will be prohibited in three Arizona forests starting Wednesday.

Another fire in southeast Flagstaff was 80 percent contained. A third fire is expected to be fully contained Wednesday.
