BOYNE CITY, MI -- It's a ride to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer programs.

This Saturday, the 8th Annual Charlevoix-Emmet County Pink Ribbon Ride will peddle off.

Money raised at the event will be donated to the circle of strength at Charlevoix Area Hospital and the Kathleen Jontz Breast Health Fund at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital.

"One of the best ways to fight cancer is to get it early, or catch it early, so that's what our goal is," said organizer Sue Morris.

Since the Pink Ribbon Ride first began, more than $270,000 have been raised.

Most of this money helps pay for mammograms and testing for women who can't afford it.

This year's ride begins at Veteran's Park in Boyne City on Saturday at seven in the morning.
