EMMET CO. -- A bear and her four cubs caused quite a stir over the weekend in Emmet County. A 7 & 4 viewer emailed us these pictures that she took while she was going to a garage sale at 1:00 p.m. Saturday on Concord Street, near Division just outside of Petoskey. Officials with the Department of Natural Resources & Environment said a Conservation Officer was called to the scene because the bears were not going to come down from the tree with the crowd forming underneath it. The DNRE coordinated efforts with the Michigan State Police and Emmet County Sheriff's Office to shut down a portion of Concord Street to keep the crowd at bay. The plan worked and after about an hour and a half the bears climbed down and wandered away on their own. The DNRE is calling this a success story!
