DES MOINES (AP) -- President Barack Obama is trying to link the need to restrain Wall Street to preventing another financial meltdown.
He'll try to make that point in Illinois and Missouri today. Obama is criticizing Republicans for refusing to allow the financial overhaul bill to be debated in the Senate.
Obama says he's mystified at Senate Republicans after they again blocked consideration of the bill.
The president says he can't understand how the GOP can reject the idea of even debating the reform of Wall Street rules that led straight to the global meltdown.
And he told an Iowa audience, obstruction cannot be the last word.
Republicans say they want their imprint on the bill.
