CHARLEVOIX -- Murdick's Fudge in downtown Charlevoix caught fire around 10:30 Wednesday night.

The fire started in the back of the store.  Around 50 firefighters were on hand to fight off the blaze.  They were able to prevent the fire from spreading and had it contained around 1:30 Thursday morning.

It is believed that the fire started by a three prong outlet, but it's still under investigation.

Although the building is close to one hundred years old, the fire did not completely engulf the store, and it is not ruled a complete loss.

The fire chief said crews used thermal imaging to make sure there weren't hot spots that could re-ignite.

We'll have the latest today on 7&4 News at 5 and 6.
