UPDATE: Judge Rules Dogs Dangerous
GRAYLING -- Two dogs deemed friendly and loving by their Crawford County owners and workers at the Ausable Animal Shelter have been ruled dangerous by a Crawford County judge.
In a written verdict sent through the mail from Judge Ronnie Burmeister, the judge ordered the dogs to either be euthanized, signed over to the county, or to allow the Ausable Animal Shelter to adopt the dogs out, according to dog owner Ken Menard.
Back in July of 2008 dogs Riley and Shelby, both a pit bull mix, frightened a neighbor when they barked at him. They did not bite the victim. Four months later the Crawford County Animal Control removed the pets from the Menards’ home and placed them in an animal shelter.
Since then it’s been a $15,000 court battle for the Menard family. Mr. Menard says he will appeal this most recent verdict and will try to take the case to the Supreme Court if needed.
