TRAVERSE CITY -- The Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office is searching for a jail inmate who walked away while on work duty.

Jacob Sowers was with a work crew at The Goodwill Store on 1151 S. Airport Road when he walked away. Sowers is 33-year-old white man, 6'4" tall, with brown eyes and brown hair.  He was last seen walking south near Cass Road wearing a yellow short sleeved GT Jail shirt under a brown coat and denim jeans.

Sowers was in jail for failing community corrections on a OWI 3rd offense.  He was sentenced to 360 days in jail on 12/4/2009.

A K-9 unit was dispatched but the dog was not able to track him down.  If you have any information you are asked to call the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office at 231-995-5000.
