16 year old killed after car leaves road

A 16 year old girl was killed after a two car crash in Ogemaw County. It happened about 9:00 Saturday night, on Shady Shores Road - that's in Hill Township.

State Police say both drivers were heading north, when one tried to pass the other. But the passing driver clipped the first vehicle, sending it out of control and off the roadway. That car hit a tree.

Investigators say 16 year old Tanya Lynn Reilly from Rose City was driving that car, and was killed at the scene.

A passenger in her car had non-life threatening injuries. State Police say the driver of the other car was treated and released for minor cuts and scrapes.

There's no word on whether charges could be filed. State police say alcohol is not thought to be a factor, but speed and lack of experience could be contributing factors.
