If you live or drive in downtown Traverse City, take note that some construction work in Old Town could cause some issues at the start of next week.

The construction company working on the parking deck will begin delivering and installing the precast panels Monday.  During this phase of the project, Eighth street, between Cass and the alley behind old town businesses will be closed to thru traffic from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. each week day until the project is completed in April.

"You have these huge pieces of cement that are lifted by the crane and put into place on the deck structure and we need a spot basically to work from," explained R. Ben Bifoss, City Manager.

City leaders are also warning area residents that the work will generate dust, noise and cause an inconvenience.  Access to the old town businesses will be maintained at all times during the construction project.
