This past weekend's Winter Wonderfest and VASA races created an economic boost for local shops.
TRAVERSE CITY -- It was a big boost to the local economy...the VASA races and Winter Wonderfest brought in more people this year than last.
Local restaurants and shops say people came in from all around the state... and it kept their cash registers busy. In fact, Espresso Bay in Traverse City says they are still seeing a constant flow of customers.
"We've seen a really big increase this weekend. The weather was great for the VASA and a lot of people came for that and with the Winter Wonderfest there's a lot of extra people in town," says owner of Espresso Bay, Ray Dornbusch.
Dornbusch says the coffee shop is also looking forward to next weekend's crowds with the Comedy Arts Festival. He says it will be another well needed boost to local business.
