Police Sting Targets Grocery Store

MANISTEE COUNTY -- An increase in shoplifting concerns at one Manistee County grocery store, led to Michigan State Police Troopers going undercover.

On February 5-6,  police and the SSCENT Narcotics Team conducted an undercover operation at Glen's Market in Filer Township.

Glen's managers reported an increase  in shoplifting complaints and requested the help.  During the sting operation, officers spent about 8 hours inside the store during critical hours.  During the time officers made nearly half a dozen arrests.

One person was arrested for drug possession and an outstanding warrant, one person was arrested for shoplifting, two minors were arrested for possession and three people were arrested for probation violations.

During one incident about $1,100 in suspected drug money was seized. 

State Police Officers were assisted by Manistee City Police.
