Northern Michigan's largest school district is letting parents know just how many days will need to be made up at the end of the year.
Several days were missed when several schools with the Traverse City Area Public School District shut down to help stop the spread of H1N1, there were also some snow days.
All TCAPS schools except Blair Elementary and West Middle School have lost six instruction days. Blair Elementary has lost eight and West Middle School has lost nine days.
If no additional days are lost, Blair Elementary will need to make-up three days. West Middle School will need to make-up four days. The rest of the district will need to make-up one day.
School leaders are still waiting to hear if legislation introduced in Lansing to change the requirements to make up days missed due to the flu will pass.
The state Superintendent of Education does not support the bill.
