Northwestern Michigan College is asking for help from the community to find its 2010 Outstanding Alumnus Award. This honorary award was established in 1988 to recognize NMC alumni who are noteworthy for one or more of the following: - Continued donation of time, talent, resources and enthusiasm on behalf of the college
- Significant professional achievements
- Exemplary leadership in community and professional activities
Nomination forms are available online by click on THIS LINK and are due by Feb. 26. A committee of alumni representatives reviews the nominations in March, making a final recommendation to the NMC President in early April. The recipient is officially introduced at NMC's commencement ceremony, to be held May 1, 2010. A recognition dinner is held at a later date. The 2009 Outstanding Alumnus award was presented to a trio: Verna Bartnick, Bruce Byl and Tim Dunn. Other past winners include local photographer and Traverse City Film Festival co-founder John Robert Williams (2007), State Sen. Jason Allen (2003) and Walter J. Hooper (1999) who is the immediate past chair of the NMC Board of Trustees.
