State Theatre collects thousands for relief effort
There are many ways to support the relief efforts in Haiti. But there's another way northern Michigan is helping.
Visitors to the State Theatre in Traverse City this weekend had the chance to support "Help Haiti Day." It's actually a two-day event that ran this weekend at the movie theater in downtown Traverse City.
Volunteers were taking collections inside the theatre lobby, and say they collected $2,700 dollars on Sunday. On Saturday they collected about $1,200 dollars from ticket holders and passers-by in the downtown area.
