There are nearly 100 teams registered and ready to participate in the multiple races starting on Saturday morning.
Shirley Hill, the Vice President of Kalkaska Winterfest says they are very proud of their tradition, and it's a unique experience to go through the woods on a dog sled where it's quiet and peaceful. She says, "It's just a while different atmosphere".
The festivities begin on Saturday at 7 am with a silent auction and craft show. The Midwest International Dog Sled Race will run from 9 am - 3 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Organizers say there are plenty of family friendly activities to try.
