In Northern Michigan human disaster relief agencies are working on plans to render aid. The American Red Cross of Northwest Michigan is in the process of organizing a drive to gather financial support for earthquake victims.
Kevin Bavers, Executive Director for the Red Cross of Northwest Michigan said nationally, the organization hopes to raise a million dollars to send to Haiti.
"We have over seven hundred chapters in the United States and as we do our fundraising to try to reach the goal of our national organization, the combined 700 chapters we're able to come up with enough money to help in a large case like this," Bavers Said.
