JOHANNESBURG (AP) -- A reward is being offered for information about a bald eagle poaching case in the northern Lower Peninsula.

Wildlife officials say the bird likely was killed between Dec. 20 and 22 in Otsego County near Johannesburg, about 60 miles northeast of Traverse City. An examination found it died of a possible gunshot wound.

The monetary reward is being offered by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Poaching a bald eagle is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days in jail.
