(AP) -- An independent analysis says a plan intended to help Michigan fight global climate change also would give the state economy a boost.

The Michigan Climate Action Council last year proposed a strategy for reducing Michigan's greenhouse gas emissions. Gov. Jennifer Granholm appointed the council in 2007.

Its 54 recommendations called for greater use of renewable energy and more conservation in sectors such as industrial production, farming and transportation.

In a report issued Monday, the Center for Climate Strategies says the plan - if fully implemented - would create 129,000 new jobs over the next 15 years.

The center's analysis also predicts a $25 billion net gain in the gross state product and lower prices for energy sources such as electricity, gasoline, fuel oil and natural gas.
