MOUNT PLEASANT (AP) -- Central Michigan University students and other volunteers have helped bring comfort and cheer to about 900 families in Isabella County.

Christmas Outreach of Isabella County works on the program with the Salvation Army, United Way and several churches.

Volunteers collected toys, clothing and household items, then sorted and packaged them for distribution to families at the Mount Pleasant university's Finch Fieldhouse.

Central Michigan senior and volunteer Jackie Giggy of Quincy says she hopes the project helps a lot of people in these hard economic times.

She says "it feels good to be a part of something like this."
