Ferris State University trustees have approved a new doctorate in education program at the Big Rapids schools to train community college leaders

BIG RAPIDS -- Ferris State University trustees have approved a new doctorate in education program at the Big Rapids schools to train community college leaders.

The school says in a release that it expects to enroll its first class next summer.

The program combines courses from Ferris' colleges of Business, Education, Arts and Sciences, and Professional and Technological Studies.

President David Eisler says the program focuses clearly on community colleges and the problems they face.

Ferris State University is about 50 miles north of Grand Rapids.
