Wayne State University says it will cover the money its students lost with cuts to the Michigan Promise Scholarship program this academic year
DETROIT (AP) -- Wayne State University says it will cover the money its students lost with cuts to the Michigan Promise Scholarship program this academic year.
The university says it will cover the $1,000 scholarship for students who have filed the federal financial aid disclosure form and show a "need based on federal guidelines."
Wayne State President Jay Noren says the replacement scholarship will cover the full $1,000 amount qualified students would have expected from the state for this academic year.
The Detroit school says the aid will be in the form of a credit to the account of students enrolled for the remainder of the academic year.
